A Tribute to Geoffrey Holder
Performed as part of a larger tribute at Lincoln Center Out of Doors, this performance paid tribute to Carmen de Lavallade’s husband, the extraordinary dancer, choreographer, and artist Geoffrey Holder, on what would have been his 85th birthday.
I associate produced the evening, which featured Carmen’s performance of the 1972 solo “The Creation,” which Geoffrey scored and choreographed. Carmen was accompanied with vocals by the Ebony Ecumenical Ensemble, and the performance featured children from Lincoln Center’s educational program. I took these photos from the wings.
